Mew Smarter, Not Harder

Let's set the record straight: 99% of the Mewing advice found online is wrong.

If you've been forcefully pressing your tongue against the roof of your mouth, stop right now. You're doing it wrong.

Mewing isn’t about force. It’s about being consistent and building a habit.

So what is the right way to Mew?

Mewing correctly involves creating a suction between the tongue and the roof of the mouth, similar to the suction cup used to hang your loofa in the shower.

Sources: Walmart, Apex Dental

And when suction is created between the tongue and the palate, a totally passive upward and forward pressing force is created by the tongue.

This is the beauty of the Suction Mewing Method—it is effortless and sustainable 24/7 (including during sleep!).

The ease and effortlessness of suctioning as compared to pressing can be felt immediately.

Thus, it is no surprise that the Short video I did providing instructions for the Suction Mewing Method went viral on both TikTok and YouTube.

One comment with 12K likes states: “Finally, after all these years someone to explain it in a simple way.”

This was my exactly my sentiment when Dr. Mike Mew explained the suction method to me on a WhatsApp call in the summer of 2019.

Suctioning instead of pressing is a paradigm shift in Mewing.

Suction Mewing and Breastfeeding

Suction Mewing makes sense from an evolutionary/developmental perspective too.
