MARPE Treatment Process and Chronology
What is MARPE treatment chronology in a nutshell?
Call orthodontist’s office to schedule initial appointment (sometimes there is a multi-week wait for busier orthodontists, but never as bad as some jaw surgeons who have 6 month lead times).
Have initial appointment. This will include taking records as well as a brief oral exam by the orthodontist himself.
Receive treatment offer and plan. With most orthodontists, this occurs on the same day as the initial appointment. With others like Dr. Lipkin, there is a second consultation meeting that occurs a few weeks later after the doctor has studied your records and is able to build a comprehensive plan based off them. This second meeting can definitely occur remotely if needed.

Appliance is placed 4-6 weeks after formally agreeing to treatment.
Surgical assist usually occurs at the same time. Normally it is the orthodontist who places the appliance and does the surgical assist. However, it’s not uncommon for a periodontist or oral surgeon to place the appliance and do the surgical assist.
