It’s very simple. Tooth-borne appliances are an obsolete treatment modality in the era of MARPE (such as EASE, FME, MSE) and custom orthognathic surgery.

Tooth-borne expanders are an order of magnitude less effective, slower, and more dentally destructive.

There is not a single advantage these expanders has over a properly implemented MARPE or MMA surgery.
